• Writing and Communication Program Hosts Banneker High School Students for Campus Tour, Sample Class Session

  Georgia Tech’s Writing and Communication Program welcomed 43 Banneker High School Advanced Placement English students and their teachers on February 28, 2017, to attend class, meet students and faculty, and tour the Georgia Tech campus.

  Kate Pride Brown, an assistant professor in the Ivan Allen College School of History and Sociology, is the winner of the 2016 Routledge Social Movement Studies Best Article Prize.

  

• Royster Named to Advisory Council of Woosong University Endicott College of International Studies

  March 6, 2017

  Jacqueline Royster, dean of the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts, was named to the Advisory Council of the newly formed Endicott College of International Studies at Woosong University. The College is named after long-time former Sam Nunn School International Affairs faculty member John Endicott, who is president of Woosong University.

  

• The French, German and Irish Consuls General gave their countries’ perspectives on Brexit

  On February 28 the Consuls General of France, Germany and Ireland discussed their countries’ approaches to the up-coming negotiations surrounding the UK’s departure from the EU.

• Loukissas, Pollock Co-Author Big Data Article in ‘Engaging Science and Technology’ Journal

  Assistant Professor Yanni Loukissas and Associate Professor Anne Pollock, faculty in the Ivan Allen College School of Literature, Media, and Communication, explored the impact of the 2016 U.S. presidential election on big data research in an article that was published in the 2017 issue of the journal Engaging Science and Technology.

  Yeiryun Park, an Applied Languages and Intercultural Studies (ALIS) major in the Ivan Allen College School of Modern Languages, was on of two Georgia Tech students selected to receive Chinese Government Full Scholarships for the 2017-2018 academic year.

  An article by Jon Schmid, a doctoral student in the Ivan Allen College Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, was published in the 2017 issue of the journal Defence and Peace Economics.

  

• Boston’s Article on Affordable Housing Policy Published in ‘City and Community’ Journal

  Thomas “Danny” Boston, a professor in the Ivan Allen College Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, wrote an article on low-income housing that was published in the December 2016 issue of the City & Community journal.

  

• Dhongde Presents Research on Multidimensional Deprivation at Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation of Atlanta

• Ivan Allen College Faculty Receive Seed Funding From Strategic Energy Institute

  In fall 2016, the Strategic Energy Institute issued a campus-wide request for proposals for cross-disciplinary energy projects.  Of the proposals received, three were selected to receive funding.

  

• Shapira Organizes AAAS Panel on the ‘New Industrial Revolution’

  Philip Shapira, a professor with the Ivan Allen College School of Public Policy at Georgia Tech and the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research at The University of Manchester, convened a panel to discuss the new ‘Industrial Revolution’ at the American Association for the Advancement of Science’s annual meeting in Boston, which was held on February 19, 2017.
