Nunn to Step Down as CEO of Nuclear Threat Initiative; Moniz Named CEO

Sam Nunn, a distinguished professor in the Ivan Allen College Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, is stepping down as CEO of the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI), a nonprofit organization he co-founded in 2001 with Ted Turner. Former U.S. Secretary of Energy Ernest J. Moniz has been named the new chief executive officer and co-chairman of the board of directors of the NTI effective June 1, 2017.

Jennifer Clark, the director of Georgia Tech’s Center for Urban Innovation, testified on Thursday, March 16, 2017, before the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee Subcommittee on Digital Commerce and Consumer Protection. The hearing on Smart Communities was part of the Subcommittee’s Disrupter Series which examines ways that U.S. communities are using new technology to improve the improve safety, increase efficiency, and create opportunity.
