With a goal of helping policy makers, policy shapers, and journalists understand the issues around chemical warfare use in Syria, and the United States’ response to that, Margaret Kosal, associate professor in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs and the co-chief editor of the journal Politics and the Life Sciences curated a special virtual issue: Chemical Weapons: Politics, Science, Diplomacy, and Emerging Issues and Challenges.

The issue includes a short primer written by Kosal addressing threats, attribution of responsibility, behavioral norms, and emerging threats and governance challenges.
