Hertel Receives Innovation in Co-curricular Education Award

Jillann Hertel, an academic professional in the Ivan Allen College School of Literature, Media, and Communication, has won Georgia Tech’s Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) 2017 Innovation in Co-curricular Education Award.

The award recognizes full-time general faculty who increase student learning outside the traditional curriculum and help Georgia Tech achieve its strategic goal of graduating global citizens who can contribute to all sectors of society. It includes a $3,000 prize, which is provided by the Jack and Francis Mundy endowment.

Hertel was presented with the award at the Faculty/Staff Honors Day Luncheon on April 21, 2017.

As creative director for Arts@LMC, Hertel runs the CoLab, a studio space and gallery where students have the opportunity to design materials that are then published for clients and public consumption. The CoLab professionalizes and engages the skills that students acquire through their coursework by producing real-world products while expanding their portfolios.
