Scheller College of Business, Ivan Allen College, Open Pathway for Accelerated Master’s Degrees

The Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts and the Scheller College of Business are partnering to open a new accelerated pathway to graduate study for business students. 

Under the program, undergraduate Scheller College students can apply to study for any one of six Ivan Allen College master’s degrees and use up to six credit hours of undergraduate work to accelerate their degree.

The programs are Applied Languages and Intercultural Studies, Digital Media, Economics, History and Sociology of Technology and Science, International Affairs, and Public Policy. 

Scheller students will find many crossovers that pair well with a business degree, said Shatakshee Dhongde, associate dean for academic affairs in the Ivan Allen College. 

“In today’s rapidly changing business environment, especially, acquiring advanced knowledge in areas such as regulatory policy, social challenges, national and global affairs, economics, a foreign language, or advanced competency in communication can really help set an applicant apart,” Dhongde said. 

For instance, a business student interested in working internationally might obtain an M.S. in Applied Languages and Intercultural Studies or in International Affairs. A master's degree in Economics would help a business graduate upgrade their business analytics and corporate finance skills with advanced econometric modeling. 

The program is open to all Scheller students with at least 60 credit hours completed and a cumulative GPA of 3.5. Interested students will need to submit an application to the relevant school in IAC along with two letters of recommendation, one from a Scheller faculty member. No GRE scores are required. 

Each program has its own application deadline. Students interested in this pathway should contact the director of master’s programs in the school they’re interested in for more information about the process.

The Colleges are working on a similar pathway for Ivan Allen College students to obtain an accelerated route to an MS in Management from the Scheller College.
