Hyde and Linden Selected for Eighth Cohort of Emerging Leaders Program
Posted December 13, 2023
Two faculty members with appointments in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts have been selected to participate in the Emerging Leaders Program at Georgia Tech. Allen Hyde and Maureen Linden will join 14 other faculty members as part of the program’s eighth cohort. Hyde is an associate professor in the School of History and Sociology. Linden holds a joint appointment with the School of Public Policy in the Center for Advanced Communications Policy and with the College of Design as a principal research engineer. Within Design, Linden is also the executive director of the Center for Inclusive Design and Innovation.
Starting in December 2023 and continuing through Spring 2024, participants will take part in several leadership development activities, including a kick-off retreat, regular workshops and small group work during the Spring, and leadership coaching.
“I recently got tenure in the Ivan Allen College, and the guidance and advice of leaders and mentors in the School of History and Sociology, the College, and the Institute helped me be successful in the process,” he said. “I am participating in the Emerging Leaders Program to develop my own leadership skills and network with others on campus with similar goals, so that I can help other assistant professors navigate the complexity of tenure and give back to the Institute.”
This is the first year the program has been open to senior and principal non-tenure track faculty and research faculty.
“It is an honor to be among the first research faculty to participate in Georgia Tech’s Emerging Leaders Program,” said Linden. “With additional leadership skills, I hope to support research faculty in their professional growth, including growth into leadership roles at the Institute level.”
