McGraw Named 2023 Rising Wreck Award Winner
Posted March 29, 2023
Congratulations to Andrew McGraw, academic program manager at the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts (IAC), who was named the 2023 Rising Wreck award winner. The Rising Wreck Award is an Institute-wide accolade that recognizes a new employee at Georgia Tech who demonstrates leadership qualities that align with the Institute's vision.
Shatakshee Dhongde, the associate dean for academic affairs at Ivan Allen College, nominated McGraw. She says he is central to the student success team at IAC.
"He is a quick learner and eager to help others. He is very efficient in the way he manages tasks and timelines. Most importantly, he is great at working with our students partly because he can relate to them easily as a former Yellow Jacket," Dhongde said. "I look forward to working with Andrew and seeing him succeed in his career."
McGraw is a recent alum of IAC, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Public Policy in 2021. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, he worked in the Ivan Allen College Dean's Office as a student ambassador, a freshman research intern, and a student initiatives intern. He began his career at Georgia Tech as a student support coordinator in 2022 before being promoted to academic program manager.
"My time as a student at Tech was one of the best experiences of my life thus far, largely due to the welcoming, close-knit, student-focused culture in the IAC community," McGraw said. "I'm motivated to work in higher education and give back to the College to help bring that experience to as many of our students as possible!"
