Robert Bell and General Phil Breedlove, both distinguished professors of the practice in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, have developed a statement on Russia-NATO. “Recommendations of the Participants of the Expert Dialogue on NATO-Russia” was written to look at the deteriorating European security stability.
The statement was developed following 15 online seminars with experts from Russia, the U.S., and Europe. These experts began by recommending that the START Treaty be extended for five years since this would ensure strategic stability.
They also call upon their countries’ leaders to take urgent actions to reduce the tension built between Russia and NATO. Their statement has detailed recommendations that should help improve relations.
