Ivan Allen College Faculty and Research Highlighted at 2019 Sustainability Showcase
Posted October 29, 2019
Throughout this week, October 28 - 30, over 35 faculty and PhD students representing all six schools from the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts are presenting research on the many facets of sustainability research and education at the 2019 Sustainability Showcase.
The objective of the three day event is to assemble, catalogue, make accessible, and make available a complete portfolio of sustainability relevant research and education programs, projects, courses, personnel, and sponsors ongoing at Georgia Tech inclusive of all six Colleges, GTRI, the 11 Interdisciplinary Research Institutes, and all other centers and laboratories on campus.
The Ivan Allen College presenters at the Showcase comprise a broader group of roughly 150 academic and research faculty from a variety of disciplines throughout Georgia Tech. The Sustainability Showcase is also notable for being held at the newly opened Kendeda Building for Innovative Sustainable Design, the most environmentally advanced education and research building ever constructed in the Southeast.
In order to accomodate the wide array of participants, the Showcase is organized in a fast-paced lightning format covering topics that span the engineering, natural science, social science, business, planning, design, and computing disciplines. Each day is divided into half-day sessions that are broadly organized under the themes of people, organizations, natural systems, built systems, technologies, and future vision.
The Sustainability Showcase is sponsored by the Brook Byers Institute for Sustainable Systems, Office of the Executive Vice President for Research, the Kendeda Building, the Sustainable Design & Manufacturing Lab, and the Ray C. Anderson Center for Sustainable Business. A schedule and full list of presenters can be found here.
