Posted August 20, 2018
Seymour Goodman, regents’ professor in the Nunn School, participated in the 22nd Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education (CISSE) in New Orleans from June 11 - 14, 2018.
He presented a paper at the conference entitled, “Roles of the Social, Behavioral and Decision Sciences in Cybersecurity Policy Formulation and Foundation Cybersecurity Research,” based to some extent on the National Academies Press publication, “Foundational Cybersecurity Research: Improving Science, Engineering, and Institutions,” which he helped author.
The publication calls for more expert involvement from the areas of social, behavioral, and decision sciences to understand human behavior in cybersecurity. Goodman's talk was augmented by a more detailed presentation emphasizing the possibilities and need for policy formulation.
The Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education was founded over twenty years ago as a forum in which educators in the area of cybersecurity gather and discuss topics in the field. The goal of the conference is to work to define current and emerging cybersecurity education that will influence its development and help grow its curricula in universities.
Seymour Goodman is the director emeritus of the Sam Nunn Security Program and serves as co-director of the Center of International Strategy, Technology, and Policy in the Sam Nunn School. Goodman’s research interests include international developments in information technologies (IT), technology diffusion, IT and national security, critical infrastructure resilience, and the roles of technology in the conduct and outcomes of major conflicts.
