Gregory Abrams Recognized for 25 Years of Service

Posted June 4, 2018

Gregory Abrams, financial administrator lead in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts Dean’s Office, was recognized for 25 years of service to the Institute.

Abrams was originally hired at Georgia Tech in 1992 as a delivery worker in Central Receiving/Business. In 1995, he moved to the College of Sciences departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry handling warehouse supply and some accounting and procurement responsibilities. This prepared him for a full time role in finance within the department, a role in which he continued for 13 years.

He joined the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts Dean’s Office in 2008. In his role as financial administrator, Abrams handles day-to-day accounting processes for the dean’s office. This includes managing Student Travel Funds, State of Georgia funds, expenses, P-Card, Georgia Tech Foundation and Research Corporation funds, as well as other financial activities in the College.

In looking back over his years at Georgia Tech, Greg noted the innumerable changes in how financials and procurement are processed and approved.

“It is a continual learning process to stay abreast of these improvements.”

“I’ve enjoyed meeting different people from around the world working here at Tech. It’s been educational learning the different cultures,” said Greg.

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Abrams lives in Ellenwood, Georgia, with Sheryl, his wife of 28 years. When not working, Greg enjoys all and loves working in his yard.

Ivan Allen College Dean Jacqueline J. Royster said, “We are honored to have Greg Abrams as part of our team and celebrate a decade of service and leadership for the Ivan Allen College that you have so graciously performed since I have been Dean (and, of course, for many years before that).”

Congratulations Greg!
