Army Fellow Promoted to Colonel
Posted March 29, 2018
On March 2nd, U.S. Army Senior Service Fellow Dan Brue was promoted to Colonel. Colonel Brue is currently in the Nunn School from the Army War College Fellowship Program auditing courses in International Affairs and across the Institute.
Colonel Brue came to the Nunn School from Fort Gordon, where he served as Deputy Commander of the U.S. Army Cyber Protection Brigade. His thirty-year career included serving as a commander of the 41st Signal Battalion in Yongsan, South Korea, and Deputy G3 for Operations for 7th Signal Command (Theater) at Fort Gordon. “I helped tear down the Berlin Wall, invaded Iraq (twice), and have traveled all over Europe, Asia, and Africa,” said Colonel Brue.
In the Nunn School, Colonel Brue is auditing courses and completing independent research for a scholarly report. He will submit the report to the Army War College and present his findings to the Georgia Tech community this Spring. Margaret Kosal, associate professor in the Nunn School, is the director of the Army Fellows Program and serves as Brue’s advisor at Georgia Tech.
Colonel Brue calls his assignment as the Nunn School Army Fellow luck, because he was originally going to the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy at Fort McNair, Virginia. If Brue had not received this fellowship, he would have moved to Virginia, leaving his family behind in Thomaston, Georgia. Brue said, “it worked out for me because my daughter is a high school senior, and I didn’t want her to have to move in her final year.”
Following his term in the Nunn School, Colonel Brue will move to Honolulu, Hawaii, where he will become the G-3, Director of Operations, for the 311th Theater Signal Command at Fort Shafter.
The Nunn School was awarded U.S. Army War College Senior Service Fellowship in 2015. Read more about this fellowship here.
