Graduate students from the Ivan Allen College School of Public Policy helped organize Georgia Tech Energy Club’s 2017 Energy Expo, which was held on campus on February 9 – 10, 2017. The two-day event included two keynote addresses, a documentary screening, four panel sessions, networking receptions, roundtable lunch discussions, and a poster and demo showcase.
Panel sessions focused on the themes of “Energy Equality,” “Energy Storage,” “Emerging Energy Technologies,” and “Where Are We Headed: Technology, Economics, and Policy.” In addition, the expo featured the screening of the documentary Before the Flood, as well as a Skype Q&A with Fisher Stevens, the film’s director.
Jenna McGrath, a doctoral student in the School of Public Policy and a member of the Energy Club, served as organizing chair for the Expo. Doctoral student Camila Apablaza Alvania and master’s student Rainey Jernigan also represented the School of Public Policy as members of the Expo planning committee.
The Energy Expo was co-sponsored by the Strategic Energy Institute, which serves as the Energy Club’s parent organization, and Georgia Tech’s Serve-Learn-Sustain initiative.
