Mock Trial Teams Finish in First and Fifth Place Overall at Carolina Classic Tournament

Posted October 19, 2016

Georgia Tech’s Mock Trial (GTMT) “A” and “B” teams finished in first and fifth place, respectively, at the 10th Annual Carolina Classic Invitational, which was held October 14 - 16 at Elon University in Elon, North Carolina.

The tournament included nationally ranked teams from the University of Virginia, University of Georgia, Duke University, and Furman University. Georgia Tech’s A team went undefeated at 7-0-1, and the B team finished with a record of 5-3.

Georgia Tech was the only school at the competition to place two teams in the top five, and this was the first time that GTMT has placed two teams in the top five at the same tournament in at least the past five years. By placing first in the tournament, each member of the GTMT A team will be awarded a $10,000 scholarship to the Elon University School of Law if they apply and are admitted to the school.

Mock Trial activities are situated within the Pre-Law Program in the Ivan Allen College School of Public Policy and overseen by program director Robert Pikowsky. The team is coached by attorneys Andy McNeil (Public Policy 2001) and Will Warihay.
