Commemorative Wall Honors Teaching Excellence
Posted January 13, 2015
A new commemorative wall has been erected on the fourth floor of the Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons (CULC), honoring some of Georgia Tech’s best teachers throughout the years including nearly sixty from Ivan Allen College.
The Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL) Teaching Wall bears the names of faculty members who have been honored with Teaching Excellence Awards going back to the 1960s. Nearly sixty of the names featured on the Teaching Wall belong to faculty members and academic departments in the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts.
"Great teachers are immortal," said Rafael Bras, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, at the dedication event in late November. "They live on through the students that they inspire, who, in turn, go on to inspire others. The wall will forever be a tangible reminder of their greatness and the timeless service they have rendered to Georgia Tech."
The wall was several years in the making and a personal passion for Georgia Tech's associate vice provost for learning excellence and director of CETL, Donna Llewellyn, who said, "Thank you for the dedication, passion, and hard work that goes into teaching our students, and for caring that they learn."
